Unlocking the Power of SEO: A Guide to Different Types

September 11, 2023

Let’s get started, shall we?

According to research, 93% of online experiences begin with a search engine like Google, Yahoo!, or Bing. People often start with a search when they want to find a new product, company, or service. They may have an idea, but they need a search engine to guide them. This is not unusual. I am sure, that you have used Google or another search engine at least once this week.

In today's digital age, search engine optimization (SEO) is essential for any business that wants to be found online. SEO is the process of optimizing your website so that it ranks higher in search engine results pages (SERPs). This can help you attract more visitors to your website, which can lead to more leads and sales. The premise for any SEO campaign rests upon the fact that you do have a website. If you do not have a website, do not worry, I know that the good fellas at Heatleads got you covered.

Now let’s continue. There are many different types of SEO, each with its own unique focus and benefits. In this guide, we will explore the different types of SEO and how you can use them to improve your website's ranking in SERPs.

On-Page SEO:

On-page SEO is the process of optimizing individual web pages on your website. This includes things like keyword research, title tags, meta descriptions, and content optimization. Depending on the size of your website (how many pages the website has), and particular attention to SEO during the design and development of the website, getting started with on-page could either be a day job or a month or may be or even three. This is why it is important to make sure that your website is working for you from day one.

Off-Page SEO:

Off-page SEO is the process of building links to your website from other websites. This can help to improve your website's authority and ranking in SERPs. For people who are unfamiliar with the fancy term “SERP”, it stands for Search Engine Results Page, you know, the page where all your results are shown when you search for stuff on Google, Bing, or any other of the big players.

Link building is a sport that requires strategy and patience, with a clear end goal in mind. Not all backlinks are created equal. The quality of the referring domain matters and also high-quality backlinks are typically not cheap. But you can definitely find affordable options.

One more thing, as much as possible, avoid link farms. More on that at a later date.

Technical SEO:

Technical SEO is the process of ensuring that your website is optimized for search engines. Behind the scenes, technical SEO ensures that search engines can crawl and index your website effectively. This includes things like site speed, mobile-friendliness, and crawlability.

Yes, you guessed it right. Search engines like Google, send this bot called crawler for simple terms, to roam the internet and crawl millions of pages daily. It helps if your page is ready, and optimized when the bots come crawling. PS: If you don’t know what I am talking about, it is cool, Better Call Paul: +1 (647) 833-4217 to fix this for you.

This is important for businesses that want to be found by potential customers in their area. Think about the results on the SERP when you googled: Lawyers in (Insert your city). If your firm’s website did not come up, better call these guys: heatleads.com/seo

Voice Search SEO:

Voice search SEO is the process of optimizing your website for voice search. This is important because more and more people are using voice search to find information online. With the rise of voice-activated devices, optimizing for voice search is crucial. It's about tailoring your content to match how people naturally speak when searching.

Tip: Focus on conversational keywords and providing concise answers.

E-commerce SEO:

If you're in the e-commerce game, this one's for you. E-commerce SEO is the process of optimizing your website for e-commerce. This includes things like schema markup, product pages, product optimization (product description and image optimization) category optimization, and checkout optimization. Unless you don’t like making money from your e-commerce store, I recommend that you get started with that ASAP.

Video SEO:

Videos are a powerful medium, and video SEO helps your videos rank higher in search results. Video SEO is the process of optimizing your videos for search engines. This includes things like video title tags, video descriptions, and video tags.

In case you are wondering, YouTube is a search engine. You are welcome if you did not know that already.

Mobile SEO:

Mobile SEO is the process of optimizing your website for mobile devices. This is important because more and more people are using their mobile devices to access the internet. This is an extension of technical SEO, but sometimes it is important to singularize it to make it clear what phase of the project you are one for the clients.
